Plate House 2019-2022

The latest 2019/2022 Plate House prototypes were developed in partnership with PNG Forest Products, a plywood manufacturer in Papua New Guinea, for potential domestic application as transitional shelters. An 18 sqm. house was manufactured and constructed in just 3 days. The prototype introduced two new innovations: tensioned hoop straps for hold-down connections and integration with a prefabricated floor casette. Together, these enabled a significant reduction in prototype cost and weight while improving structural stiffness and assembly time.
